Death By Cherry Chocolate Cake


Sift flour, soda, salt & cocoa together, place in large mixing bowl and stir in sugar. In small pan, melt butter. Measure vinegar and cold water into a cup. Add the water mixture and butter to dry ingredients. Mix until smooth. Line the bottom of the Dutch ovens with parchment paper and spray with oil. Cover bottom of ovens with marshmallows. Pour cake batter over the marsh-mallows and (reserving 1/2 cup cherry pie filling) spoon the remaining pie filling over cake batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until done. Maybe this is one of the best chocolate cake recipe.

Ingredients for Cherry Chocolate Cake:

  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 10 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 heaping tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 cups miniature marshmallows


Whipped topping (small container)
2 tablespoons cocoa (sifted 2 – 3 times)
Miniature marshmallows
Hershey’s chocolate syrup
1/2 cup cherry pie filling
Big Cherry candy bar, grated
Crushed chocolate cookies

Add sifted cocoa to whipped topping, frost sides and top of cooled cake; pat the crushed cookies into the sides of the cake. Put miniature marshmallows on top. Spoon the pie filling on top of the marshmallows. Drizzle with chocolate syrup and sprinkle with grated candy bar.
